American Martial Arts Academy of Chester Springs hosted a Kick-a-Thon fundraiser on Saturday, June 10th, 2017. This event was to benefit the Exton First Responders of Uwchlan Ambulance.
Over Thirty Five participants included beginner students, black belts, non student children and adults executed 500 kicks during the one hour event and generated over $2800 in donations from their generous sponsors.
About the Event
The event was organized and run by Program Director, Melissa Roberts, and was part of the Exton First Responders Community Day which drew local residents from Lionville, Downingtown, Exton, Phoenixville, Glenmoore, and Chester Springs. Melissa reported that “everyone had great fun and enjoyed the unique training opportunity provided by the Kick-a-Thon.” Students and supporters expressed satisfaction knowing that they were helping raise funds to support the their First Responders.
Firstly, a first responder is a person with specialized training who is among the first to arrive and provide assistance or incident resolution at the scene of an emergency. Secondly, first responders typically include police officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and firefighters.
Meanwhile, organizers said the Kick-a-thon was very easy to plan and organize. Support materials and other resources provided by the owner of American Martial Arts Academy. In addition, Kick-a-Thon packets contained ready made sponsor forms, envelopes, detailed execution of gaining sponsors. Prizes and incentives for all who participate generated student interest which made participation easy.
We are very proud of all our students and sponsors. Moreover, we would like to thank all of you for your help in making our 2017 Kick-A-Thon a success! We look forward to doing more fundraisers in the coming years.
